The book of Matthew begins with a break down of Jesus’ bloodline. His heritage that dates back as far as King David and as far back as Abraham. Fourteen generations up until the deportation to Babylon and fourteen generations before that. It’s a reminder that Jesus has come from Royal bloodline here on earth. He isn’t just the ruler of the heavens and earth, he was royalty by blood. He’s the one the prophets prophesied would come and rule the earth from his forefathers before him. The last and only king of the eternal Kingdom has arrived.
“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.”
